Diatomaceous Earth is a non-toxic way to rid your home of pests. This substance is safe for your pets, as it comes from tiny, fossilized organisms called Diatoms. Their skeletons are made of Silica. This substance causes the bugs to dry up and expire. It works on all sorts of bugs, from spiders to bed bugs. Just sprinkle the floor with it, or wherever the pests are lurking. It does take a few days for the bugs to die off, but better than walking through spray bug killers, which may contain nerve destroying chemicals. Better for you, Better for your pets! YOU COULD DRESS UP THE DOG ...OR.....You could get the Hurricane Fur Wizard!2/5/2020  I have recently had the chance to check out the Fur Wizard at a client's home, and it really works! It Picks up fur on furniture, dog and cat beds, stairs , and clothing quite nicely. The best part is the self cleaning feature. You just insert it into the sleeve and Voila! The hair is gone , having been scraped down into the bottom catcher. Later you just dump the catcher into the garbage. What could be easier?  Ok...hiring Rise and Shine Cleaning could be easier!

For hard water spots on Chrome faucets in the shower, just take ZUD (which is a jeweler's grade pumice) and a damp cloth. Sprinkle a little ZUD on the cloth and gently rub those spots away. Rinse and dry. You may need to cover parts of it more than once for best results. Do not use on Brushed Nickle or Brass though.  If your Brushed Nickle is looking strange or spotty, just take some Weiman's polish and coat the whole tap, including the handles, for an even shine.
 I tend to freak out a bit whenever I hear of people using Vinegar or Windex on their expensive stainless steel appliances to clean them. Here is a guide to the proper care of your stainless steel appliances: Never use Vinegar. The acidic nature of Vinegar can damage the surface. Avoid using Windex as the ammonia in Windex may also cause damage. Never use bleach as it may pit the surface.

The best way to clean the fridge is just with a damp cloth, (we use microfibre cloths). Dry the surface with another soft cloth, and you are ready to polish. We use Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish to shine and protect the surface. To apply have an old hand towel ready for buffing , we fold the towel for use. The trick is to buff up the polish very quickly after it is applied. Spray the appliance with the polish and quickly spread the product evenly over the appliance with one side of the folded towel. Then flip over the towel and buff the surface to an even shine. For Rust Stains you may want to purchase a product called Innoshine Rust Remover B570 . Follow the directions and always rub with the grain of the metal. If this is your very first cleaning day, the owner will be there as well, to field any questions they may have, and advise on problem areas of the home, such as septic systems and proper disposal of waste water containing detergents, outside.They will have a professional maid's caddy, mop, bucket, bag of clean folded cloths, tri-star vacuum and attachments, and any other necessary products specific to your home.
Once they are all inside, they will start timing themselves. They know how much time is allotted and the start and finish time will be calculated.If you are home, they will greet you happily and then proceed to clean the bottoms of their shoes with Lysol Wipes in order to protect your home from any outside germs. One lady will start vacuuming while the other lady begins wiping and dusting or cleaning the kitchen. Our favorite is Basic H all purpose cleaner. Use it in microwave ovens, on walls, floors, counter- tops, inside fridges. It is even save for wood cupboard fronts! If you can get it wet(is safe for water) you can use Basic H. The trick is to give it a minute to soak. Rise and Shine Cleaning has converted to Environmentally Safe cleaning products and this stuff actually works better than anything else of the toxic line! And after 25 years in the business, it takes a lot to impress me.( ask me how to get some)  Over the years I have had a chance to try just about every brand of wood floor care product on the market. But nothing holds a candle to Woodpecker Concentrated Laminate, Hardwood and Parquet Floor Cleaner. To mix up this concentrate just add 2 teaspoons of Woodpecker to a litre of water and fill a spray bottle for the flat mop system. Or add 1/4 cup per gallon of warm water if you wish to use a regular mop system. It works well on both hardwood and laminate floors. We also use it on tile and linoleum floors. The trick is to have the right flat mop pad to pick up and trap the soil . We use the Vileda flat mop pad system because it picks up more dirt and soil. The easiest way to use this system is to vacuum first. For the flat mop system, we like to moisten the pads first, then wring them out well. Next, lightly spray a 5' square area of the floor and then mop. Work your way backwards out of the room to avoid leaving footprints. You will need at least one fresh pad per 10 square feet of floor. You can either rinse out the pad, or have several extra pads ready for the job of an entire house. In our cleaning business, we have about 10 pads for an entire house ready to go. If you have a lot of soiling on the floor due to pets, or if you are behind in your cleaning, then for a 10' by 10' room you will have to rinse out the pad at least 6 times, or have 6 or more pads ready to go. Alternately, the Vileda strip mop and a bucket can be used. Just be careful not to get too much water on the floor. Just add about a tablespoon of Woodpecker Concentrate to a pail of water and use the strip mop. Rinse and wring out till almost dry. Repeat until you get the job done. Then stand back and admire your work. (also check for spots that you may have missed, the way we do!) Woodpecker never streaks! And it is Environmentally Safe and Non Toxic!
